Bank Holiday Blues for Record?

Spike lives and learns. When the newspaper circulation figures for last month in Scotland are issued tomorrow, the numbers for rivals, the Scottish Sun and the Daily Record, will, apparently, not be quite on a like-for-like basis.

So Spike is reliably informed, bank holidays sales - which are usually lower than normal - can be removed from the calculation of average daily sales.

Except that Easter Monday was supposedly not a bank holiday in Scotland, as it was in England. So, the Daily Record sale on Easter Monday will be included in the calculation. But not so the Scottish Sun’s sale that same day, by virtue of the fact the Scottish Sun is part of a London-based operation.

Or so Spike believes.......
