
Phoo Action Fights Way on to Pilot Roster

A dramatisation of a cartoon strip, to be made by BBC Scotland, is to feature in a six-drama pilot series scheduled for transmission on BBC Three.
The strip - Get The Freebies, which appeared in The Face magazine - is the work of music band, Gorillaz, and Tank Girl creator, Jamie Hewlett. And its adaptation as a drama is to be titled, Phoo Action.
The pilot series was announced yesterday as “a new generation of youthful drama”.
Phoo Action is itself described as “a futuristic kung fu live action drama: The year is 2012 and London is in the grip of mutant criminals. Only Terry Phoo, a Buddhist kung fu cop, and Whitey Action, an enigmatic young anarchist, can save the nation.”
It is written by Matthew Enriquez Wakeham, Peter Martin and Jessica Hynes and will be produced by Matthew Read, No cast has yet been appointed and filming is not expected to take place until September, with transmission scheduled for later this year.
