The countdown has already begun, towards the opening night of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and allmediascotland.com - in association with national screen agency, Scottish Screen - will be bringing you what it considers to be the top ten Scottish elements of the festival. So, in at number eight.......

Sunday August 19, 13.30, Filmhouse 3
Thursday August 23, 19.00, Filmhouse 2

Industry screening
Friday August 17, 9.15am, Filmhouse 3

Says Scottish Screen: “The people and the story behind a barely-reported atrocity where 45 natives of a small Southern Mexican village are murdered by paramilitary forces. Scottish director, Nick Higgins, can boast to being the only Scotsman to have graduated with a Masters Degree in Cinematography from the American Film Institute as well as being an expert on Mexican culture and politics. • "The Scottish Nick Higgins who made "A Massacre Foretold" is not the same scottish Nick Higgins as the one that graduated from the AFI. The former is from Strathclyde and the latter is from Fife. Nick Higgins the one that graduated from the AFI www.nickhiggins.com"
