BBC to Issue Voluntary Redundancy Invite
05/11/2007
Today, the BBC is expected to to appeal for applications for voluntary redundancy, as it seeks to save £2 billion over the next six years.
In Scotland, the savings will translate into around 210 post closures, balanced by 130 created. The savings are because of a lower-than-expected BBC licence fee settlement.
The invite is part of on-going negotiations between the BBC and trade unions BECTU, Unite/Amicus and the NUJ. And it is said to be available for only a fortnight.
