Lighten up Your Day with the Scottish Sun
18/01/2008
The arithmetic is staggering. The Sun has got wired up with the Scottish and Southern Energy Group in a remarkable freebee offer tomorrow which - on the face of it - could see nine million pounds' worth of energy-saving lightbulbs being given away for nothing.
The Scottish Sun blurb said yesterday: "It's the Great British light switch - and we've teamed up with Scottish Hydro Electric to give away 4.5 million energy-saving bulbs worth £2 each."
In this extraordinary deal, the newspaper explained: “Just buy The Scottish Sun this Saturday at one of the 17,000-plus retailers participating in our campaign and you’ll get a twin-pack of bulbs FREE!”
These are staggering statistics, but The Scottish Sun pledges the deal....... "while stocks last”.
In the freebee, The Scottish Sun has teamed up with Scottish Hydro Electric, while in England it is Southern Electric and SWALEC in Wales. All three are part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group.

- "I note that today's Scottish Sun includes a special 4-page supplement
on changing to energy-saving lightbulbs, including a stirring message
from Gordon Brown himself.
Is it maybe a bit unfortunate that this green effort is wrapped around
the 24-page Motors section?
Keep up the good work - hope"
