Moore Makes it a Double for Scotsman Sport
20/03/2008
The Scotsman newspaper has picked up a second, top sportswriting award within the space of two days.
Hard on the heels of writer, Mike Aitken, taking the Regional Sports Writer prize at awards hosted by the Sports' Journalists Association, columnist, Richard Moore, has taken the top spot in the biography category of the British Sports Book Awards.
Richard triumphed with ‘In Search of Robert Millar’ - a profile of Scotland’s Tour de France hero, Robert Millar. He saw off quality competition in ‘Provided You Don’t Kiss Me’, Duncan Hamilton’s portrait of legendary Nottingham Forest manager, Brian Clough, which was the William Hill Sports Book of the Year.
Aitken, the newspaper’s chief golf writer, won the regional sports journalist honour for the third time - previously picking up the trophy in 1992 and 1995. Mike, a Thomson Regional Newspapers graduate trainee, has spent his entire career with The Scotsman.
