The BBC Scotland news desk is to be bolstered by the hiring of around 20 new staff.

Adverts for the posts have gone up on the Corporation’s internal jobs noticeboard. Wanted are broadcast journalists and reporters based around the country, including Inverness, Aberdeen, Fort William, Selkirk, Stranraer, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The boost to the news desk coincides with a new look, beginning this evening, for the television news programme, Reporting Scotland.

The current Reporting Scotland titles, for instance, were created a decade ago.
