Broadcasting Commission Chair to Attend Conference

The chair of a Scottish Parliament commission looking into the future of Scottish broadcasting is to speak on the subject of how devolution is changing Scottish broadcasting.

Blair Jenkins, head of the Scottish Broadcasting Commission, is attending the 17th annual conference of the Scottish branch of the UK-wide organisation, Voice of the Listener and Viewer.

Other speakers include Professor Neil Blain, University of Stirling, and Emma Megaughin, of the Hansard Society.

The event is taking place in Edinburgh, on Thursday.

Meanwhile, broadcasting chiefs responsible for all news on  ITV and BBC will be in Glasgow a week tomorrow, to debate the role their trade plays in Scottish democracy.

ITV editor-in-chief, David Mannion, and deputy director-general of the BBC, Mark Byford, will join the Scottish editor of the Daily Telegraph, Alan Cochrane; Glasgow University visiting professor, Gerry Hassan; Sunday Herald columnist and broadcaster, Iain Macwhirter; and Channel 4 director of nations and regions, Stuart Cosgrove, for the debate, which is being organised by the Scottish Broadcasting Commission in partnership with the Sunday Herald.
