Better late than never: Monday saw the senior writer on the Sunday Herald begin as chief UK political correspondent at sister title, The Herald.

Torcuil Crichton takes over from Mike Settle, who in January succeeded Catherine MacLeod as UK political editor.

MacLeod had taken up an advisory post with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling.
