Trio of Commissions Sparks Trio of Appointments at Digital Agency
05/06/2008
A former sports writer with Scotland on Sunday is among three appointments at a Glasgow-based digital and creative advertising agency, which is celebrating a trio of commissions.
Gary Sutherland, who has most recently been an online journalist at BBC Scotland, has been taken on by Nation 1, which has also secured the services of two members of staff from stv owners, SMG: Joe Hughes, as digital planner, and Greg Barnes, as digital account manager.
The appointments also coincide with the launch this week of a new, website, www.nation1.co.uk
The company has been retained by the Charlie Taylor chain of hair salons to help drive traffic to its website, and won contracts to do likewise with www.freeflowcyles.com and for Uni Box - a firm that provides students with household and other items to help them settle into their new accommodation on leaving home for the first time.
Says managing director, Andrew Grant: “Our vision is to be the number one choice for high growth companies looking for a digital agency with global reach. We work in exactly the same way as an advertising agency, except instead of TV we use YouTube, we replace outdoor with banners, direct mail with email, blogs instead of PR and social networks in place of word of mouth.”
Nation1 was founded seven years ago in Glasgow as a flier company. It began with a £5000 loan and now boasts a £680,000 turnover and 18 staff.
Clients include Airlink Group, Murray International Holdings, Chocolate Soup, Groves Raines Architects, Graham Technology, Boston Networks, Fifi & Ally Restaurants, Strathclyde University, Harper Macleod Lawyers and Soma Records.
