The shortlist for the annual Channel of the Year award at the Edinburgh International Television Festival has been announced.

This is the seventh running of the award, and the contenders are split into terrestrial and non-terrestrial.

The Best Terrestrial ‘runners and riders’ are, pretty much inevitably: BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Five. Meanwhile, in the non-terrestrial category, it’s down to Dave, E4, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2 and Sky One. 

The winners will be revealed at the festival, on Saturday August 23.
