You have to admire the BBC. Stung by recent criticism that its network news was too London-centric, it has made a real effort, these last few days, to incorporate more Scottish news stories into its UK bulletins.
On TV, there's been Scottish correspondent, Andrew Cassell, reporting from Armadale, in West Lothian, on curbing alcohol misuse, and a radio report about a sexy-sounding French public address announcer at Haymarket rail station, in Edinburgh.
And yesterday, Radio Five Live previewed a conference about seagulls, taking place in Dumfriesshire, in the town of, er.....Fife's Kirkcaldy.
Give 'em time.
Comment: What about The Scotsman implying that the North-east fishing port of Fraserburgh lies somewhere south of the Border? In a restaurant review in the Scotsman Magazine (June 14) Gaby Soutar guzzled 'battered Fraserborough langoustine tails' at The Tailend in Albert Place. Presumably that's The Tailend in Albert Place, Edinborough. . .Anonymous of Aberdeen.
