Info Department Increases Advertising Spend
21/07/2008
An UK government department that specialises in buying ad space in the media has reported a 15 per cent increase in its media buying expenditure during the last financial year.
The Central Office of Information - which is allowed to act only for public sector and government organisations, including Scottish ones - spent £156.9 million on its advertising spend during 2007/08.
And it followed audiences to websites, by increasing its digital advertising spend by 57.6 per cent, to £35.4 million.
The COI says it has proven attractive to fellow government departments and other public sector bodies because of its ad buying expertise and ability to secure savings on initial quotes: during the twelve months up to March 31, by a record 47.7 per cent.
During 2007-08, COI worked on numerous high profile government campaigns, such as tobacco control, army recruitment, road safety and climate change.
