Spike wonders how a ‘cute baby’ competition at the Castle Douglas branch of Tesco supermarket went, at the weekend, after - according to our sources - details of it failed to appear in the organisers’ own newspaper.

The event was being promoted by Scottish and Universal Newspapers, not that you would know from the Galloway News, which was out on Thursday.

And it doubly wonders if local shops would have been keen to promote the event on news billboards, since many of them will have among those against the Tesco store opening in the fist place.
