The Scotsman newspaper’s spread yesterday on the ‘death of the local pub’ used a very interesting pic, of a ‘thriving pub scene’, from the 1950s.

But take a closer look. The punter wearing a beret, pastis water bottles and French lettering in the top left corner suggest this was not your average Scottish watering hole.
