07/08/2008
The Glasgow Film Festival has enjoyed a substantial increase in its audience numbers, according to figures just released.
This year, the festival - in its third outing - saw audience numbers reach the 20,509 mark. That was up 35 per cent on last year’s figure of 15,173.
It led, according to an audience survey, of a ‘total net visitor expenditure’ of an estimated £618,615 - a three-fold increase on the total of £222,678 twelve months previously.
Almost a quarter of respondents (23 per cent) said they were visiting Glasgow from elsewhere, on the day and date when they were asked to take part in the survey.
There was an increase in visitors from the rest of Scotland to 26 per cent and from the rest of the UK to five per cent.
Next year’s festival dates are February 12-22.
