Freeview Voted Top TV Innovation
12/08/2008
Of all the technological innovations in television this last decade, the general public believes Freeview has been the most significant. According to some 2046 people polled in advance of the Edinburgh International Television Festival, taking place at the end of next week, some 35 per cent opted for Freeview as their top TV development.
While personal video recorders registered a 22 per cent response, the mobile television gained no support at all.
The survey also found that only ten per cent of viewers felt that wide-screen TVs have had the greatest impact on how they consume television while only two per cent of respondents regarded HD broadcast as the most important technology.
Interactivity, ‘via the red button’, and Internet TV were chosen by only seven per cent respectively of the viewers polled. However, this view was not held by 18-24-year-olds, 18 per cent of whom said that Internet TV has had the most impact on their consumption.
