13/08/2008
Generating increased airtime revenue is one of the challenges being set a new appointment at stv’s northern division.
Former managing director of the recently-closed Aberdeen Independent newspaper, Eric Farquharson, has been taken on as head of commercial development for stv North.
Says stv: “[He] will be responsible for developing commercial airtime revenue, sponsorship opportunities and other revenue streams for stv in the north east. He will be based in stv’s Aberdeen studios.”
Farquharson became managing director of the Aberdeen Independent four years ago. He joined the title ten years ago as sales director. He has also worked as advertising manager for the Press & Journal and Aberdeen Evening Express newspapers, and is a former advertising controller at The Herald and Evening Times.
The Aberdeen Independent closed in June, when its owner was unable to find a buyer.
