Bevens Taking up University Post

15/08/2008
A former business editor of The Scotsman newspaper has become one of two, key appointments at a Scottish university, as it expands its journalism course.

Nick Bevens is being joined by former stv reporter, Claire Dean, to teach on Glasgow Caledonian University’s new MA Multimedia Journalism course, which kicks off next month.

Says the university: “The MA Multimedia Journalism is the first postgraduate journalism course in central Scotland which aims to ensure all its students learn how to report and produce journalism in print, radio, TV and online media. The programme won accreditation from the National Council for the Training of Journalists in June.”

Dean, who started her career at Radio Clyde, will be leading the programme's broadcast journalism teaching, while Bevens will concentrate on business, international and other specialist reporting areas.

Bevens started his career as a trainee with the Gulf Daily News, in Bahrain, and worked for a decade on various trade and industry titles in the Gulf and Asia before returning to Scotland sixteen years ago. From next year, he will also play a leading role in launching Caledonian's planned MA in International Business Journalism.
