Film's TV Screening Teed up by Festival Award

26/08/2008
Just a few hours before a Scottish film was screened on BBC Two last night, its makers learned it had also picked up a prize at an international film festival.

Trouble Sleeping - on last night at 10pm - told the story of a group of asylum-seekers from the Middle East and North Africa trying to make a life for themselves in Edinburgh, faced with the memories of their often brutal past and the threat of deportation.

And over the weekend, at a festival in the USA, celebrating film and peace, it was the only non-USA film to pick up one of six awards.

At the Peace on Earth Film Festival, in Chicago, it won the Best Narrative Feature Film title.

Trouble Sleeping is a Theatre Workshop and Makar Productions film, in association with BBC Scotland and Scottish Screen.
