stv Bolsters Content Team with Murray Appointment

01/10/2008
One of the best-known independent producers in Scotland is to hook up with his former boss, now at stv.

Paul Murray, who until last year was director of Endemol Scotland, is joining Alan Clements’ content team at stv, where he will be head of entertainment and factual programming.

Between 2000 and 2004, Glasgow-based Murray had been head of development at Clements’ Wark Clements independent television production company.

The Scot’s recent credits include You Can’t Fire Me I’m Famous, for BBC1, the BAFTA Scotland award-winning My Childhood, for BBC 3; and Restoration Village, for BBC2.

Most recently, he was a series editor with Scotland-based Crackit Productions, working on Piers Morgan’s series for BBC 1, The Dark Side of Fame.

Murray is Clements’ first major appointment since starting his role as director of content early last month.

Says stv: “Alan is undertaking a review of the content business and will shortly be confirming plans that will further strengthen stv’s content output. This newly created role will see Paul responsible for all entertainment and factual productions to support the growth of stv’s network business.”

Says Clements: “I am thrilled that Paul is joining the team. He is a huge creative talent in the genres of entertainment and factual. Rich, quality content is critical to the success of stv as we aim to become a key provider to all network channels. With Paul’s strong track record he will be an invaluable member of the team.”

Murray also sits on the board of directors of the Tron Theatre in Glasgow and is a regular contributor to the Edinburgh International Television Festival.
