Scotsman Would Surely Swear By It
02/03/2007
Strange days indeed at The Scotsman where a very libertarian attitude to swear words seems to have been introduced.
Nestled in the leader column of Scotland’s ‘national newspaper’ was a word that would surely have had the good ladies of the capital’s Morningside district spluttering into their decaf lattes.
In a rather lame version of an imaginary conversation between Alex Salmond and Jack McConnell, as played by Rory Bremner, came the immortal line: “Jack McConnell, you daft twat.”
Is this a new Guardian-style policy to use swear words throughout the paper?
Surely we should be told of such a bold move.
