Clype is reliably informed the shortest distance between Port Glasgow and Giffnock is 22 miles.

Which may be the reason why at least one national newspaper hack was perplexed to receive a story yesterday, from a Glasgow news agency, suggesting the two places are almost neighbours.

The story is about a flat in Port Glasgow for sale at just £5000. By way of contrast, a garage in “nearby” Giffnock is for sale at offers over £5900.
