BEGINS an announcement from the organisers of this year’s Edinburgh International Television Festival, taking place next month: “TV fans and delegates of The Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (powered by YouTube) can vote for their TV Moment of the Year following the launch of the festival app.

“Whether it is Great British Bake Off ‘bingate’ or Channel 4’s Jon Snow on drugs, downloading the app allows fans to view clips and cast their vote. The winner will be announced at the Edinburgh TV Awards, hosted by Scottish comedian, Frankie Boyle, on August 27th.”

And continues the announcement: “To download the free app on iOS devices, visit the iTunes App Store and search for ‘EdTVFest’. For Android devices, visit the Google Play Store and search for ‘EdTVFest’.”

YESTERDAY, the website, radiotoday.co.uk, reported: “Bauer’s FM stations in Scotland are to get a number of new country-specific programmes, breaking away from some current networked shows with England.

“Former Heart/Real presenters Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey join Bauer for a weekend show, the weekday evening show returns to Scotland and Old Skool and Anthems will be broadcast from Scotland for the first time.”

BEGINS Newsnet.scot website: “The editor of BBC Scotland’s flagship news programme Reporting Scotland has hit back after the programme came under fire over its reporting of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s current visit to China.

“Andrew Browne defended Monday’s edition of the programme after an academic and leading critic of the BBC  claimed it had over-emphasised the newsworthiness of comments made by former First Minister, Alex Salmond, on a BBC political programme on Sunday. It was alleged that, in doing so, the news programme had given subdued coverage of his successor’s trade visit.”
