Media Awards: RTS Scotland Student Television Awards 2015

SAY the organisers, the Royal Television Society, these awards “celebrate the best in student television from across Scotland and were presented this year in three categories: animation, drama and factual”.

And they continue: “The judges also recognised excellence in craft with three awards for best camera, sound and editing.”

The award in the Animation category was presented to Ben Cresswell from Edinburgh College of Art (University of Edinburgh) for ‘The Armadillo and the Earwig’.

“The jury admired the animation’s characters as being well made and clearly drawn and felt the music and sound effects gave a good punch.”

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland students, Louise Dawson, Dayna Baptie and Fergus Thom, took home the award in the Drama category for ‘Starfish.

“The jury agreed that the film was clearly directed with strong performances and an engaging story.”

The award in the Factual category went to Kris Kubik from University of Edinburgh for ‘Dipper from the Water of Leith’.

“The jury was impressed by this professionally made film which they found enjoyable, refreshing and unusual.”
