Van de tableau

LOOK out for the ornately-painted van in the Glasgow-set movie, Nina’s Heavenly Delights, which is being released in Scotland today.

It began life as an ordinary white van until one of Pakistan’s best-known mural painters of trucks and vans got hold of it.

By coincidence, Ghulam Sarwar was in Glasgow at the time of the movie’s filming, as guest of Heer Productions, the company behind a Scotland-based festival of Pakistani film, which launched in September last year.

The film follows the mixed fortunes of a Glaswegian family and their award-winning Indian restaurant. It is written by Scot, Andrea Gibb, whose credits include Dear Frankie, and stars Art Malik.
