World premiere set for horror film fest

A WORLD premiere of a movie by US filmmaker, Mark Young, is to be one of the highlights at a horror film festival, taking place in Edinburgh next week.

Celebrating its 14th year, Dead by Dawn – ‘Scotland’s International Horror Film Festival’ – is also staging half a dozen UK premieres.

Young’s world premiere is titled Southern Gothic, and the director himself will be attending its screening.

The festival is taking place between Thursday and Sunday at the Filmhouse, in the capital.

The UK premieres are The Abandoned, from Spanish filmmaker Nacho Cerda; The Hamiltons; Gruesome; Mulberry Street; Shutter; End of the Line; and La Hora Fria (The Dark Hour).

There is also a screening of Flight of the Living Dead, by another US filmmaker, Scott Thomas, who will also be making an appearance at the festival.
