Chance to quiz director following film screening

THE director and writer of a movie described as a “charming British comedy in the style of Ealing or Bill Forsyth” are taking part in a question-and-answer session in Edinburgh this evening.

Following the screening of Grow Your Own at the Filmhouse, director, Richard Laxton, and writer, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, will talk about the movie, which is based on a real-life project in Liverpool, where a psychiatrist working with victims of torture began using gardening as therapy.

Starring Benedict Wong and Eddie Marsan, Grow Your Own tells the story of what happens when some asylum seekers are given plots on a traditional English allotment.

Cottrell-Boyce’s credits include A Cock and Bull Story, Millions, 24 Hour Party People, and Hilary and Jackie.
