Cycling film to set pace for tour

A SHORT film about an Olympic and Commonwealth Games medal-winning cyclist, which earned rave reviews at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, is to be screened this week, when cycling’s Tour of Britain visits Scotland.

Standing Start – by Edinburgh filmmakers, Adrian McDowall and Finlay Pretsell – is being screened in Dumfries, to kick off the final leg of the Tour.

It features Scottish cyclist, Craig MacLean, portrayed as if a Greek gladiator going into battle. As the race approaches, the pace picks up. As one reviewer says: “If your heart doesn’t start to pound faster… it’s quite possible you don’t have one.”

It is being shown on an outdoor screen on Saturday.
