Ross Headed for Hollywood Hoping for Film Deal

A Glaswegian stand-up comedian leaves on Thursday for Los Angeles to meet with potential backers of his first feature film script.

Charlie Ross has already played host, in Glasgow, to a couple of Hollywood executives, as he strives to ensure that, should the movie come off, it will be made, and set, in the city.

He told “A couple of film companies in Los Angeles have picked up on it, and are also very enthusiastic that it is set in Glasgow. Not that films such as ‘My Name is Joe’ aren’t good films. But they are not the Glasgow I know. I want to make a film that makes Glasgow look like the way Woody Allen makes Manhattan look, that parallel universe he creates around a group of people.”

Ross describes ‘The Adventures of Danny Halfpenny’ as a “romantic comedy, a kind of Alfie-meets-Shirley-Valentine”, adding: “We are at the legal and money stage of the discussions.”
