BBC Scotland and STV to pilot resource sharing

PRE-match press conferences hosted by Celtic and Rangers may be soon attended by a single camera crew, representing both BBC Scotland and STV.

Today sees the broadcasters tentatively begin to put into action a resource-sharing agreement struck in June, designed to save money.

A three-to-four week pilot is expected help both organisations draw up practical guidelines, for instance who can and cannot give permission for a resource share to go ahead. Coverage of football press conferences, say, will continue to involve separate journalists.

New BBC Scotland newsgathering editor, John Boothman, and his STV counterpart, Tom Lowe, have been tasked with okaying any sharing.
