New writing director Rowland set to be big noise at film fest

THE BBC Scotland soap, River City, is to provide the inspiration for budding writers as part of an event hosted by the BBC at this month’s Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Kate Rowland, the Corporation’s creative director for New Writing, is to host a question-and-answer session covering writing for BBC TV, film and radio, with special attention paid to the Glasgow-set drama series.

A new addition to the EIFF line-up, the event will also give those interested in writing for television advice on opportunities within BBC Scotland’s drama department.

‘Writing for the BBC’ is free and takes place on August 15, at the Edinburgh Filmhouse.
