Radio jobs plea by political hopeful

AN SNP politician has called on the Guardian Media Group to offer job security to more than 20 employees at Renfrewshire’s Q96 radio station.

As reported by the Paisley Daily Express, the SNP’s Scottish Parliamentary candidate for Paisley North, Andy Doig, wants the owners of Real Radio to retain the name and identity of the Paisley-based station.

The comments were made after Real Radio announced it had acquired the broadcasting licence of Q96 – but could not guarantee employees would keep their jobs.

Says Mr Doig: “Real Radio say they want to deliver a ‘different radio station for our area’, yet most people are happy with the excellent news service which Q96 delivers. And if new jobs will be created, as they claim, then why cannot they guarantee existing jobs.”
