MacLaverty appointed new director of BAFTA Scotland

THE film and TV awards and screenings body, BAFTA, has appointed a new director to operate in Scotland.

Jude MacLaverty succeeds Helen Anderson to oversee the management and development of BAFTA’s work in Scotland including the annual BAFTA Scotland Awards and BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards. Her remit is to also develop new initiatives encompassing education, screenings and practical workshops.

But she won’t be starting until January next year, following maternity leave.

Says BAFTA: “A well respected figure in Scotland’s creative community, Jude brings 15 years of arts and media experience to the role.

“After graduating from the Edinburgh College of Art with a degree in fine art, Jude has held roles at the List magazine, the Cameo Cinema, the Traverse Theatre, Glasgow 1999: City of Architecture and Design and has also served as BAFTA Scotland’s events manager in the past.

“Jude is currently Festival Producer at the Celtic Media Festival, an annual three-day celebration of broadcasting, film talent and excellence from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany.”
