Scottish broadcasters, STV, has today launched a nationwide search for talented comedy writers to become a part of its first multi-media project.
The venture, which represents the first time stv.tv has commissioned programme content specifically for distribution online, will see successful applicants deliver material for a series of comedy sketches set to be showcased on the broadcaster’s network of websites later this year.
An online poll is then set to decide which of the shows will be developed for on-screen transmission.
It is to be called Forward Slash Comedy.
Says head of digital at STV, Alistair Brown: “The digital publishing platform we have established at stv.tv, combined with agreements we are putting in place to expose our content globally, means we are entering a very exciting phase in the development of our business.
“We can now take high quality content produced in Scotland and deliver it to our audiences globally. We also think audiences will like this new opportunity to help showcase talent and select the comedy they want to see.”
