Broadcasting Licence Returned by Lanarkshire Radio Station

Word is that the last song was Simple Minds' 'Don't You Forget About Me'. What is true is that troubled Lanarkshire commercial radio station, L107 FM, had its broadcasting licence returned to broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, this morning.

With its telephone number out of order, it hasn't been possible to confirm just what future awaits the station, which – earlier this year – had its transmitting mast suspected of being stolen. There have also been accusations by star presenter, Scottie McClue, that he was 'out of pocket' to the tune of £100,000.

And in today's Daily Record – on page 11, under the headline, 'Blunt Stunt KO's Radio' – it was being reported that a 'hi-jacking' of the mast on Friday had resulted in McClue being replaced by an MP3 player broadcasting a constant loop of James Blunt songs.
