Views Sought on TV Masters Degree Proposal

Experienced people working in Scotland's television industry are being asked to share their views on whether they would like to earn a Masters degree, that recognises their skills but also involves some additional training.

It follows an initiative in England being run by the creative industry skills body, Skillset, called Build Your Own MA.

Says Skillset: “Under BYOMA, industry professionals can advance their skills base by taking Skillset-approved courses at Skillset Academies over a period of five years. As courses are completed, the credits acquired lead ultimately to a Masters qualification. Skillset’s National Board in Scotland has expressed support in principle for this concept.”

There are four Skillset Academies in Scotland, including the Scottish Screen Academy in Edinburgh, run by Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh College of Art.
