Freedom of the press fears following Leveson aired on Newsnight Scotland

FEARS that the freedom of legitimate newspaper journalism might be inhibited by the recommendations of the Leveson Inquiry into press standards were aired last night on BBC Scotland’s Newsnight Scotland.

The programme, which also looked at the unregulated internet as a rival to mainstream media outlets, featured the former Information Commissioner, Kevion Dunion.

And it included Iain Macwhirter, who yesterday, in The Herald, expressed his own fears about the possible impact of the inquiry recommendations on journalism.
