Entwistle the new BBC director general

AS being widely reported this morning, including on its own website, the BBC has recruited from within to fill its director general post being vacated by Mark Thompson.

George Entwistle is director of BBC Vision – which is essentially the TV arm of the BBC.

Thompson is expected to stand down from his post after the Paralympics, after eight years in the role.

Says The Guardian, Entwistle was Thompson’s preferred candidate for the job.
