Yes campaign appointment for Jenkins likened to Mo Johnston signing

HIS appointment as chief executive of the campaign for a Yes vote in the upcoming referendum on Scotland’s constitutional future is likened to when former Celtic footballer, Maurice Johnston, signed for rivals, Rangers – insodoing becoming the first high-profile Roman Catholic to sign for the Ibrox club.

Says Alison Rowat, in today’s Herald newspaper, this is Blair Jenkins – former head of news and current affairs at BBC Scotland – whose “mantra during a 30-year career in journalism had been impartiality, impartiality, impartiality”.

Jenkins is the subject of a full-page Face-to-Face profile and interview by Rowat, during which it is revealed, among other things, that he was named Young Journalist of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards when he was at the Evening Express newspaper, in Aberdeen.
