FOUR applications to run a local TV channel in Glasgow have been received by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, along with four, also, to run a similar service in Edinburgh.
It follows an Ofcom invitation for bids to run 21 local TV licences throughout the UK.
Earlier today, as reported on allmediascotland.com, Glasgow-based commercial broadcasters, STV, announced it had submitted bids to run channels for Edinburgh (ETV) and Glasgow (GTV), in collaboration with local universities in each of the cities.
Bids for both Edinburgh and Glasgow – Made in Edinburgh and Made in Glasgow – are being headed by former BBC Scotland journalist, David Calder.
One of the Glasgow TV bids is headed by Brian Keating, who is behind local TV intiatives already operating – as URTV – in Helensburgh and Ayrshire.
