STV dance competition pilot has US ambitions

A TV programme that has two couples competing for a £10,000 prize, as a result of their first dance together since they were married, is to be piloted on STV with the hope of the format being picked up by US broadcasters.

First Dance is a STV Production in partnership with GroupM Entertainment.

The pilot is being shown on STV later this month and, says STV in a media release: “With the help of world-class choreographers, two couples compete to surprise their wedding guests with the best first dance ever. But they’re not just performing in front of stunned family and friends – their big day is made even bigger because they are competing to win a £10,000 prize.”

Adds the release: “The pilot for First Dance was co-developed with US partners, Kinetic Content, and funded by GroupM Entertainment. First Dance is GroupM Entertainment’s third co-production with STV Productions following Perez Hilton – Super Fan for ITV2 earlier this year and psychological thriller, The Poison Tree, which airs on ITV1 in December.

“The one hour pilot will be used by STV Productions’ creative partners, Kinetic Content, to sell the new format in the US.”
