Commonwealth Games volunteers project unveils its media partners

THE Scottish Sun, Bauer Media, the Evening Times, The Press and Journal and The Courier have each been named media partners of a volunteers project for the Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow in two years’ time.

Says a media release issued by the Organising Committee of the Games, the partners “will receive non-exclusive rights to support and associate with the high-profile recruitment for up to 15,000 volunteers – Scotland’s largest-ever peacetime mobilisation of citizens”.

The release continues: “The organisations will be able to promote an official association with the Glasgow 2014 Volunteering campaign including the use of a Glasgow 2014 Official Media Partners Programme brand.

“The Organising Committee – with the strategic support of their media buyers, Carat – received editorial and promotional proposals from eight companies and selected the organisations on the basis of editorial innovation, commercial value and audience reach and fit.

“The activities, which will be part-funded by the Organising Committee, will include online, on-air and in-paper advertising, bespoke supplements, and other joint content and marketing initiatives.

“Glasgow 2014 will continue to work closely on an editorial basis with all media outlets relating to volunteering in addition to that provided to the selected Partners.

“Further separate Media Partner programme opportunities will follow to support future campaigns such as ticketing, Queen’s Baton Relay and the cultural programme.”
