Hain expected to use university presentation to outline new Edinburgh TV channel

HOW a new TV channel for Edinburgh might operate is likely to be among the main topics of debate at a presentation by STV’s director of channels, Bobby Hain, on Monday.

Hain is speaking at Edinburgh Napier University – which will be working with STV in delivering a local TV channel for the capital, the licence for which was awarded by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, last month. The same award also saw STV named the operator of a similar channel for Glasgow, this time in association with Glasgow Caledonian University.

Hain is the latest speaker at Edinburgh Napier’s Media Mondays, open to both students and the general public alike.

The lecture series, which launched last year, has so far welcomed the likes of Channel 4 News chief correspondent Alex Thomson, BBC investigative reporter Mark Daly, Sunday Herald editor Richard Walker, STV director of content Alan Clements and BBC Scotland newsreader Catriona Shearer.
