Views being sought on news and current affairs coverage in the Scottish Borders

VIEWS are being sought on the quality and quantity of news and current affairs coverage on Channel 3 in the Scottish Borders.

Today, Ofcom has launched a consultation process regarding several parts of the UK. What is most likely to exercise those with a specific interest in the Scottish Borders is that Gateshead is now where its news operation is headquartered, following a tie-up four years ago between Border TV and neighbouring Tyne Tees.

The consultation is open until May 2.

And details can be found in section four of the following PDF document.

The consultation follows a recent decision to provisionally award STV a ten-year extension to its licences to operate in the Central Belt and North of Scotland – pending successful negotiations with Ofcom.
