26 per cent audience share for episode one of Outer Hebrides wildlife programme

THE first episode of a wildlife series about the Outer Hebrides – broadcast on BBC Scotland on Monday evening – was watched by an estimated 530,000 people – putting it on a par with the Scots viewing figures for the recent major, UK-wide networked series, Africa.

The four-part Hebrides: Islands on the Edge was broadcast on BBC One Scotland at 9pm, and the 530,000 people estimated to have watched it is calculated to have been 26 per cent of the audience watching TV at the time.

The programme was produced by Maramedia in association with Otter Films.

Key members of the production team include Nigel Pope (Big Cat Diary, Springwatch), John Aitchison (Wild Arabia, Yellowstone, Frozen Plant) and underwater cameraman, Doug Anderson (Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Frozen Planet).
