The Media in Figures: BBC network hours, by genre

OVER 2,500 hours on BBC One, UK-wide and during the financial year 2012/13, comprised news and weather – according to the Corporation’s annual report, published last Tuesday.

Among other findings in the report, music and arts coverage took up 333 hours between 2012/13 on BBC Two and 1,254 on BBC FOUR, while comedy commanded 1,149 hours on BBC three.

The breakdown of network hours, by genre, reads as follows (2012/13; figures in brackets are for 2011/12):
