Training and masterclasses invite from the BBC to TV, radio and online freelancers

FREELANCERS working in television, radio and online are being invited to take part in free training and masterclasses in Glasgow on the likes of factual programme-making.

The training – titled Fast Train, and provided by the BBC training service, the BBC Academy, in partnership with the skills body, Creative Skillset – is taking place on the 24th of next month.

Says the BBC, of the training at its BBC Scotland HQ in Glasgow: “For Fast Train Scotland, the focus will be on factual, factual entertainment, entertainment, drama and journalism. The day will also aim to address key skills shortages, specifically formats, storytelling and creativity, craft skills – self-shooters, sound, lighting; offline editors, production management and production co-ordination skills; social media, multiplatform, and careers advice, for example key career junctions, leadership, and editorial compliance.”

It adds: “There will be a phased release of tickets: half will be released at 9am on Thursday 3rd October, a further 25 per cent of tickets will be released at 9 am on Saturday 12th October, and the final 25 per cent will be released at 8pm on Wednesday 16th October.”
