Campbell named as new director of the Edinburgh TV Festival

THE editor of the TV trade magazine, Broadcast, has been named the new director of The Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Lisa Campbell has been at Broadcast for ten years, as editor since 2007.

Says a media release issued by the TV festival: “As editor, Lisa was responsible for setting the editorial vision and ensuring it remained relevant in a rapidly-changing environment. Lisa made Broadcast the first point of call for news about the industry by boosting their online news coverage and digital newsletters and bringing greater depth and context to the magazine. Lisa also oversaw the Broadcast Awards and Digital Awards, events, supplements and specials including the flagship Indie Survey, and ran a successful Expert Women campaign.”

Campbell succeeds Louise Benson.

Meanwhile, Elaine Bedell has also announced that she will be stepping down after four years as the festival’s executive chair. She will be doing so at the end of next year’s festival. She will be replaced by Chris Shaw, editorial director of ITN Productions.
