Cartoonist found dead

AS you may have heard or read already this morning, the cartoonist, Harry Horse, was yesterday found dead, along with his wife, in the couple’s home in Shetland. It is believed the police are not looking for anyone else possibly involved in the incident.

Otherwise known as a Richard Horne, ‘Harry’ was arguably best known for his work at Scotland on Sunday and then the Sunday Herald, Andrew Jaspan – who has edited both titles – a noted patron.

More recently, he appears to have concentrated his efforts on writing and illustrating books, plus caring for his wife, Mandy, who was ill, suffering from MS.

He had a cartoon in the Sunday Herald at the weekend.

One of his many children’s books, The Last Polar Bears, was made into a film, seven years ago. He was 46 years-old.
